NFTs have a long history of being generous. NFT sales have contributed to the fundraising efforts for Ukrainian refugees, medical projects, and wildlife preservation, to name a few. But this time, the latest collection will conserve animals while also eliminating Ethereum's environmental effect. As a result, Australia Zoo and Meadow Labs, an Australian green NFT firm, have teamed up for the Wildlife Warriors NFT initiative.
Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, launched Wildlife Warriors 20 years ago to protect animals and the environment. Most Web3 aficionados who join the group and are whitelisted for the initial drop are likely to have grown up watching the Crocodile Hunter's nature escapades on TV.
While Ethereum gas costs have a high carbon imprint, Warrior Crocs #1, the first Australian Zoo collection, will be housed on Algorand, the greenest, safest, and carbon-negative blockchain. The drop commemorates the Wildlife Warriors' 20th anniversary and includes a variety of animal-themed tokens. All the money from the first sales will go to the sustainability and conservation efforts of Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warriors. This will help save animal lives and bring Steve's goal of protecting the world closer to reality.
The first drop, entitled Warrior Crocs #1, includes 2,000 unique NFT characters inspired by the Saltwater Crocs at Australia Zoo, as well as some with Irwin family qualities. Each NFT will cost as low as 50 Australian dollars (about 35 US dollars) and will be released on June 14th.
It's an incredible privilege to wear these Warrior Crocs NFTs, knowing that 100% of the proceeds will go toward saving the misunderstood species that have been on our planet long before humans. Also, the news release says that these NFTs will be "non-deterministic, utility-driven, and 100% unique to the customer."
While the Irwins run the entire Australia Zoo, Meadow Labs web3 enthusiasts knew they would be the ideal stewards of the family's legacy into the digital space, giving them the chance "to tell the story of the impact they have had on the zoo, the animal hospital, and Wildlife Warriors' conservation efforts."
Make a note of June 14th on your calendars. Let's work together to preserve the crocs!
